2018 Hawai`i State Science and Engineering Fair (HSSEF) - Call for Judge and Non-Judge Volunteers

In a continuing effort to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and programs in Hawaii’s schools, AWWA-Hawaii Section is calling for its members and its member-organizations to get involved with the 2018 Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair (HSSEF), held at the Hawaii Convention Center on March 28-30, 2018 and hosted by the Hawai‘i Academy of Science (HAS). This year, on behalf of the AWWA-Hawaii Section membership, the Board of Trustees is proud to sponsor the 2018 HSSEF with a $1,000 sponsorship and two (2) $250 AWWA-Hawaii Section agency awards.


AWWA-Hawai‘i Section is looking for volunteers that are willing to judge HSSEF project entries on behalf of AWWA-Hawai‘i Section and those that can fill non-judge positions, as well.

  • Judge Volunteers:
    • For AWWA-Hawai‘i Section, Water Industry Agency Awards
    • Judge Qualifications:
      • Must have at least 10 years of experience in the water industry including, but not limited to water-related field such as operations, engineering, science, quality, resources, rights/ law, regulation, utilities, management and manufacturing
      • Must be a registered AWWA member
      • Must be available on Thurs day, March 29th, 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, for judging to choose two (2) awards
    • Interested judge volunteers should contact Jessica Agsalda by e-mail at: jessica@tlcghawaii.com by Tuesday, March 20th (extended deadline).
  • Non-Judge Volunteers:
    • Non-Judge Positions Available:
      • March 28th from 8:30am-11:30am: Setting up for the fair
      • March 28th from 11:30am-2pm or 2pm-5pm: Safety checkers (checking student projects to make sure they meet proper requirements).
      • March 28th from 2pm-5pm: Student registration
      • March 29th from 6:30am-9am: Judge registration
    • Interested non-judge volunteers should contact Jessica Agsalda by e-mail at: jessica@tlcghawaii.com by Tuesday, March 20th (extended deadline).
